Basics of Conducting a Focus Group

Offers information on developing and facilitating a focus group.

In a focus group, you hold a dialogue with 6 to 10 people at the same time about a particular topic. A focus group can help you assess a target groups' response to a new idea or evaluate the quality of your services. This tool walks you through preparing for a focus group, developing questions, planning the session, facilitating the session, and taking steps immediately following the session.

Running an Effective Meeting

Provides tools for developing ground rules, setting agendas, and making meeting assessments.

Individuals can use this set of tools and charts to ensure that they run meetings effectively with the most benefit to their group. Tools include setting ground rules, determining meeting roles, setting agendas, taking minutes, and conducting an assessment of the meeting. While The Ball Foundation focuses primarily on education, the tools for running meetings are easily transferable to planning meetings for vital communities.
