Performing and Visual Arts

Even if you are not engaged in the creative arts yourself, you may still find it rewarding to participate in the performing and visual arts as a member of the audience. Many communities offer live theater and musical performances and provide one or more museums for the visual arts. if your community does not have a local orchestra or museum, schools, colleges, or other local organizations often bring in performances from outside the community or offer their own performances.

Expand your experience and attend a concert or opera and visit a museum. You may find yourself drawn to one or more of the arts in a deeper way. Many arts organizations value volunteers and offer opportunities to participate in various ways, such as ushering at a play or giving tours at a museum.
