Exercise: A Guide From The National Institute On Aging
This book explains what exercise and physical activity can do for you, how to exercise safely, and how to stay motivated to exercise. It shows how to exercise to improve or maintain endurance, strength, balance, and flexibility. At the end of the book, you will find resources to contact for more information about exercise and special programs for older exercisers. Some of the resources are for people with diseases or disabilities. You will also find charts to record your progress and a form you can fill out and send to the National Institute on Aging after you have been exercising for at least a month. You will then receive a certificate that acknowledges your commitment to improving your health through exercise.

ICAA Offers 29 Tips for Senior Fitness
VANCOUVER, B.C. (December 17, 2002)-It's the time of year when millions of people resolve to get off the couch and into the gym. While advice on how to become active floats around the airwaves or appears in print, it's mostly aimed at a general audience. For mature adults, these tips range from the helpful to the downright dangerous. The International Council on Active Aging (ICAA), the world's fastest growing trade association for the senior fitness and wellness industry, has come up with 29 tips specifically aimed at helping older adults become and stay physically active.

Kairos Dance Theatre
Kairos Dance Theatre is a Minneapolis-based intergenerational dance company whose performers range in age from 4 to 90 years old. Led by Artistic Director, Maria Genne, Kairos performs locally and nationally, reaching intergenerational audiences in nursing homes, community centers, parks, libraries, and schools. Through its program, "The Dancing Heart: Vital Elders Moving in Community," Kairos Dance Theatre partners with community organizations to offer older adults and caregivers an interactive, creative experience that combines opportunities for artistic expression and learning with the health-enhancing benefits of dance and music. Program formats include workshops, residencies, and performances.
