Speakers Bureau

The Vital Aging Network Speakers Bureau works to introduce vital aging and civic engagement to community residents who are not familiar with VAN’s work and programs.

VAN speakers are knowledgeable, well trained, engaging, and exemplify vital aging and civic engagement. They involve audience members in thought-provoking, interactive discussions. The speakers talk about why staying connected is important, and provide information on how to become engaged in meaningful ways. Research has found that the contribution of time and talent of older people is important to their own health and to the health of their communities. Participants go away with increased awareness about themselves and about how they can make a difference in their communities.

Speakers cover these topics:

  • Vital aging and vital communities

  • Finding your passion

  • Benefits and barriers to getting involved

  • How to get started

Presentations are targeted to audiences of healthy retired older adults, older employed adults, professions working with older adults, and civic, professional, service, and faith-based organizations.

A modest honorarium is requested to cover administrative and travel expenses.
